Babylon

i've been getting into Jamaican movies mainly about Rastafarians and Jamaican life in general. i hadn't known about the culture of the West Indies until i moved to NYC and lived amongst mainly West Indians in Flatbush. the accents, the languages, the music were all completely foreign to me. but i've come to love it.
this is a film entitled Babylon about a young toaster hustlin while trying to play music. the film Rockers (from Netflix), also a must see, goes into the Rasta ideals and tenants, which are very interesting. i've found a little explanation of some of the terms they use here. the music in this film is on point. this reggae today (this T-Pain sounding garbage) that i mostly hear has nothing on this music from the era of this film. check one of my favorite parts in Rockers here.

comment. listen (definitely listen). love.
